As a parent, being concerned about your child is a universal thing; What are their unique strengths? Are they on the right track?

Getting a formal assessment feels overwhelming, and intelligence tests such as WISC can be expensive and unnecessary if there are no major concerns. But there is good news! I recently discovered a place where kids can play freely while child development professionals observe the child, offering expert advice in a stress-free environment.

In this article, I am sharing my experience at Infinity in Miyazakidai, a unique indoor play space where experts provide valuable insights into your child’s development—all while they’re having fun!

Meet the Experts Behind Infinity

According to their official website, the founder of Infinity is just brilliant;

  • Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo
  • Researcher at Sophia University
  • High school and special education teacher
  • Director of an alternative learning support center

His qualifications are just as remarkable:

  • Ph.D. in Science
  • Advanced teaching licenses in science (middle & high school)
  • Certified Toy Consultant
  • Kitpas Art Instructor

During my visit, I had the opportunity to receive direct advice from the founder—and let me tell you, their expertise was undeniable. The insights I gained were both eye-opening and incredibly practical.

I brought my 4-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter to Infinity to see what it was all about.

It’s just a 1-minute walk from Miyazakidai Station on the Tokyu Line. Exit the ticket gate, turn left, walk uphill, and you’ll see a building with a chiropractic clinic on the first floor. Infinity is on the 3rd floor.

Here’s the price breakdown:

  • Under 4 years old: 550 yen per hour
  • 4 years and older: 1,100 yen per hour

For my two kids, I paid 2,200 yen for an hour.

What Happens During a Visit at Infinity?

After checking in and washing our hands, we got the simplest instructions ever:

“Let your kids play freely. That’s it!”

No structured activities, no pressure—just pure, open-ended play. And yes, parents are more than welcome to jump in too. As my kids explored, the experts casually observed and asked me thoughtful questions, like:

👉 What kind of playground equipment does your child love most?
👉 Does their daycare have an outdoor play area?

Here is a breakdown of what my four-year-old son enjoyed during the one hour stay;

  • Parkour area: 10 min
  • Tool set play: 5 min
  • LacQ (building toy): 10 min
  • Electronic circuit toy: 10 min
  • Quadrilla marble run: 20 min
  • Wooden fishing game: 5 min

This is what the tool set play looks like.

There were a lot of LaQ as well.

He had played with an Electronic Circuit Kit before at their preschool, so he showed interest in this one as well.

The Quadrilla Marble Run is a bestselling toy from BorneLund, a brand well-known for its educational toys. They were deeply engaged in playing with this as well.

And he ended up getting hooked on a wooden fishing game.

My two-year-old daughter enjoyed playing with the following toys. Rather than moving dynamically, she was intrigued in playing with toys that requires dexterous skills.i

  • Toy kitchen: 5 min
  • Tool set: 5 min
  • Electric drill toy: 20 min
  • Copying her brother at the marble run: 10 min
  • Fishing game: 10 min
  • Back to the toy kitchen: 10 min

Expert Insights on My Kids

One of the best parts of our visit to Infinity was receiving direct, expert feedback on my children’s development. Their observations were insightful and easy to apply at home.

🧒 My 4-Year-Old Son

  • Excellent focus and endurance
  • No concerns about posture or stamina yet
  • As he grows, he’ll need enough physical activity to maintain good posture
  • Since his daycare doesn’t have a playground, I’ll need to be mindful of his exercise levels

👧 My 2-Year-Old Daughter

  • Tends to stop and watch when others play, lowering her activity level
  • Not a concern now, but could impact development later
  • Lack of physical activity could become an issue if not addressed

I never really thought about how my daughter’s habit of observing before acting could impact her learning – but during our visit, the expert pointed it out and gave me a simple but helpful tip:

💡 Encourage her play by asking, “What should we do next?” to help her build on activities.

For movement, their advice was refreshingly practical:

💡 Just 10 minutes of active play each day—whether it’s climbing stairs or even wiping the floor—can make a real difference.

Our visit to Infinity was truly eye-opening. If you’ve ever found yourself thinking, “I’m not too worried, but I’d love to understand my child’s traits better,” then this place is definitely worth checking out.
