What Can You See and Do at TEPIA Advanced Technology Gallery?

TEPIA is not a typical museum. Here, you’re encouraged to touch, explore, and interact with the exhibits. Some of the highlights include:

  • Humanoid robots that can recognize voices and facial expressions
  • Wearable technology and smart textiles
  • Hands-on workshops and guided tours (in English available with reservation)

Many exhibits are explained in Japanese, however some of them are easy to understand intuitively, making it accessible for non-Japanese speakers and kids alike.

My 4yo and 2yo kids enjoyed the virtual expression 3D camera and talking to the humanoid robot!

They also enjoyed the workshop (see official website for schedules) and the experience area where you can play with programmed robots for kids.

The children enjoyed the 3D printer workshop. They drew pictures on paper, which were then printed by the printer. The finished keychains could be taken home—completely free of charge.

The area that kept them most engaged—where they spent over an hour—was the corner with robots for hands-on programming. There were several types of robots, allowing even children to play and get a feel for programming. It also gave parents a moment to take a short break.

The restrooms are very clean and child-friendly! I should be already used to clean restrooms because I am a Japanese, but still can’t believe this one is located outdoor…
